Three multinational operators where the consumer-facing brand identity routes revenue through documented patterns at the corporate-record level. The patterns are sourced through mainstream journalism and through the companies' own disclosures.
Nestlé

Nestlé owns 100% of Osem, an Israeli food conglomerate operating across multiple categories. The corporate relationship dates to 1998 when then-Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly recognised Nestlé's contributions to the Israeli economy.
Just Food documented in 2023 the Nestlé reopening of its Israeli plant during the Hamas conflict period and the company's continued expansion of operations including an R&D centre in Sderot (southern Israel).
Financially, Nestlé's 2024 nine-month sales report showed a revised sales-growth forecast at 2% (down from initial 4% projections) — partly reflecting consumer-side response to documented corporate-record issues.
Russell Stover — chocolate alternative

A documented alternative in the boxed-chocolate category:
- Founded 1923; iconic red-box packaging.
- Currently owned by Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Sprüngli but US-manufactured.
- Approximately 60% US boxed-chocolate market share per ZoomInfo data.
- 90 million pounds annual production.
- FY2024 revenue approximately $580.6M.
Microsoft

Microsoft operates a documented Israeli data centre — the company announced the new cloud region in 2021. A 2023 Medium analysis documented Microsoft technology routing through Israeli military surveillance operations in the West Bank, per the No Tech for Apartheid coalition's research.
In 2023, over 1,000 Microsoft employees signed an internal letter urging the company to support a Gaza ceasefire, citing complicity concerns. The letter is part of the broader pattern covered in our piece on AI's labour and weapons economy.
Privacy record. The 2013 Snowden disclosures documented Microsoft's participation in the NSA PRISM program, providing user-data access. Windows 10 telemetry remains substantial — even at strictest privacy settings, the OS reports over 3,100 measured data points per session.
Microsoft's FY2024 revenue: $245.12B per CompaniesMarketCap aggregation.
Linux as the practical alternative
There isn't a clean substitute for Windows at the consumer-OS level — Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux Mint) require setup overhead the average user doesn't have. For users staying on Windows, reducing telemetry through configuration is the partial mitigation.
Colgate

A 2016 Amnesty International report — The Great Palm Oil Scandal — documented labour conditions across Wilmar (world's largest palm oil producer) plantations supplying Colgate, Nestlé, Unilever, and others. The documented patterns:
- Wages. As low as $2.50/day, well below Indonesian minimum wage.
- Working hours. 10–12 hour daily shifts, exceeding legal limits.
- Child labour. Documented cases of children as young as 8 working plantations.
- Safety violations. Workers lacking protective equipment around hazardous chemicals including paraquat.
The Wilmar-Colgate-Nestlé-Unilever supply-chain pattern hasn't materially changed in the subsequent years per industry reporting.
Change Toothpaste — Colgate alternative

- Biodegradable tablet format (no plastic tube).
- Vegan, cruelty-free formulation; 6–8 natural ingredients.
- Fully compostable packaging.
- Canadian-manufactured with local sourcing.
Salaaz hasn't independently audited Change Toothpaste's full supply chain; the published certifications are the source.
