Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Salaaz Marketplace Inc. for use of the Salaaz platform. Read closely; these terms govern every purchase, listing, and account on the platform.

Effective May 22, 2026.

1. Who we are

Salaaz is a marketplace operated by Salaaz Marketplace Inc. ("Salaaz," "we," "us"), a corporation organized under the Canada Business Corporations Act with its registered office in Ontario, Canada. We connect shoppers with independent vendors and provide the coordination layer for orders, payments, ethics review, returns, and customer service. Vendors sell their own products through Salaaz; we are not the seller of record except where we expressly say so.

2. Accepting these Terms

By creating an account, placing an order, or otherwise using Salaaz, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the policies linked in the footer. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater) to open an account.

  • You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Keep your credentials confidential.
  • One person, one account. Multiple accounts to evade enforcement or manipulate the platform are prohibited.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or carry plausible suspicion of fraud.

4. The marketplace model

Salaaz connects you to independent vendors. When you place an order, you enter a sale contract with the vendor of each item; Salaaz acts as the merchant of record for payment, fulfilment coordination, customer service, and dispute handling. We do not control vendor production schedules, inventory, or shipping carriers, but we hold vendors to the standards in our Vendor Agreement, and we step in when something a vendor delivers does not match what was disclosed on the platform.

5. Ethics scoring and search ranking

Every product on Salaaz carries a public ethics score derived from disclosure that vendors have provided and that we have reviewed. If a supply-chain stage is not disclosed, the score reflects that. Search ranking on Salaaz cannot be bought. The Ethics Engine Policy documents the scoring formula, the three-stage vendor review, and the internal Impact Score that drives ranking.

6. Pricing, taxes, and payment

  • Prices are shown in the currency you have selected. We rely on third-party rates for currency conversion; small variations between display price and bank charge can occur.
  • Applicable taxes and duties are calculated at checkout where we can. For international shipments, customs duties may apply at delivery; these are the buyer's responsibility unless stated otherwise on the listing.
  • Payments are processed by our payment processor. By submitting an order you authorize us to charge the payment method you provide.
  • If a payment is reversed, refunded, or charged back, we may reverse the order, deduct related amounts from any subsequent refund, and pursue recovery through our payment processor.

7. Returns, refunds, and disputes

Buyer-initiated returns are governed by the Return Policy: 30-day window, item must be in original condition, buyer pays return shipping for change-of-mind returns. If a delivered item does not match what was disclosed on the listing (materials, country of origin, certifications, ethics-stage claims), that is an ethics-disclosure issue, and we handle it separately from ordinary returns. Tell us, and we will investigate; refunds in that case do not deduct return shipping from your refund.

8. Acceptable use

By using Salaaz, you agree not to:

  • Circumvent or attempt to manipulate the Ethics Engine, search ranking, the Impact Score, reviews, or any vetting workflow.
  • List, sell, or attempt to purchase items that are illegal in the jurisdictions of origin, transit, or destination.
  • Misrepresent product origin, materials, certifications, labour conditions, or any supply-chain stage.
  • Use the platform to harass, threaten, or defame any other user, vendor, or third party.
  • Scrape, copy, or otherwise extract Salaaz content (including ethics data, reviews, editorial, and product imagery) for resale, ranking, or republication without our prior written permission.
  • Use the platform to send unsolicited commercial messaging or to attempt to take vendor-shopper communication off-platform.
  • Upload code, content, or markup designed to interfere with the platform's security, integrity, or performance.

9. User content

When you submit reviews, list items, write editorial responses, or otherwise publish content on Salaaz, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reformat, translate, and distribute that content on the platform and in associated communications (newsletter, social channels) for the purpose of running the marketplace. You keep your rights to the underlying content; this licence ends if you delete the content, except where retention is required by law or where the content has been cited by another user (in which case attribution persists).

You are responsible for the content you publish. We may remove content that violates these Terms, the Vendor Agreement, the Ethics Engine Policy, or applicable law.

10. Intellectual property

"Salaaz" and the Salaaz wordmark, design system, ethics-engine framework, editorial content, and platform code are the property of Salaaz Marketplace Inc. The brand tokens, leaf indicators, and score visuals are part of our platform identity and may not be reproduced outside Salaaz without written permission. If you believe content on Salaaz infringes your rights, our Intellectual Property Policydescribes our notice-and-takedown procedure.

11. Termination

You can close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, fraud, ethics-manipulation, illegal activity, or repeated infringement of third-party rights. We will give notice where we can; some situations (active fraud, safety risk) require immediate suspension and notice afterward.

On termination, your obligations under sections 6 (payments), 8 (acceptable use), 9 (user content), 10 (intellectual property), 12 (disclaimers), 13 (limitation), and 14 (governing law) survive.

12. Disclaimers

Salaaz is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work hard to make the platform reliable and the ethics data accurate, but we do not warrant uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that vendor-supplied data is complete in every dimension you might care about. Where data is missing, we say so on the surface where it would have appeared.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Salaaz Marketplace Inc., its directors, employees, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. Our aggregate liability to you for any claim related to the platform is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid Salaaz in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; if you live in such a jurisdiction, these limits apply only to the extent the law allows.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. Disputes that cannot be resolved through Salaaz's customer-service channels will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, except that you may bring small-claims actions in your local courts where applicable law requires.

Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence (for EU/EEA residents, this includes rights under the Consumer Sales Directive and the jurisdiction of your local courts for consumer claims).

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the platform, the law, or the way we work materially changes. When we do, we change the effective date at the top of the page and, for changes that meaningfully affect your rights, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
